My grandpa says humans taste like lobster. He's not a canibal, this is one of
his World War II stories. Normally I'd think he was a crazy old man with fuzzy
memories, and for a while I did... until the day he showed me his picture with
General Patton. Now, I damn well assume humans taste like lobster.
It's just an example. Humans have natural tendancies, and while we try our
hardest to not give into these feelings, we still feel them. Married men and
women do not all the sudden lose their interest in others of the opposite sex.
Just because they are now married does not mean they won't fantasize about
others. But their conscience tells them not to. So it's the same thing. Our
natural tendancies are exactly that, natural. Religion doesn't acknowledge these
things as natural, but instead chooses to villify them and make them sins and
evil emotions.
We must love our enemies? If you really take a moment and think about, you'd see
something terribly wrong with that statement. There are certain principals we
can probably all agree on, IE not killing, stealing, cheating etc. But many
religious teachings exist as a way of dehumanizing us all. Love our enemies, sex
is bad unless you're married etc again. Essentially, all the things that humans
naturally crave or natural reactions are somehow bad in the eyes of religion.
Ever stop to think why exactly?
Back to the point at hand... love our enemies. I for one say NO WAY! People who
kill innocents... I HATE them. Rapists... I HATE them. Creators of computer
viruses or scamming programs... I HATE them. I could go on. Hate is a natural
human emotion, it's just that society is so politically correct, that we would
all rather use the word 'dislike'. So if something happens to someone who
deserves it, then good. Seriously, if any of you had the chance to save Adolf
Hitler from a burning building, can you say you'd do it? I'd have watched that
bastard burn personally.
Are... you... serious? Seriously, do you read your own typing before you hit
"Submit Post"? How the hell can you consider what you just said as
arguments? You, a girl barely capable of forming a proper sentence, has
single-handedly discredit all empirical evidence that science has about the
possibilities of evolution? World-renowned scientists who have spent their
entire careers studying the origins of man, have just been schooled by a 16 year
old girl? I'm actually leaving this computer right now to vomit.
Yes, we certainly did learn something about you. But to spite you, I will call
you GodKat, which has it's own clever ring to it. Welcome to MT and enjoy your
stay.
Quote by NorthyWhy the hell are you people
buying figurines if you're just going to keep them in a box? Doesn't that defeat
the purpose of buying something meant for displaying?
As for the scratch, how excessive is it? Is there some way you can take a
picture of it so people can assess the damage? I'm sure people would be better
able to give advice if they could see just what's been done to
it.
Sometimes keeping them in the box is the best thing to do, especially if the box
is display friendly. Many of them have a good clear front or something, so it's
easy to display even with the box in tow. But yea, display is the whole damn
point, so it has to come out of the box if it can't be seen.
It's damned dangerous to assume anything there chief. How do you know the person
you are talking to didn't see a family member slain during a robbery? How do you
know they didn't lose a loved one in war? How do you know they weren't raped and
have waking nightmares every day of their lives? This is a damned forum... not a
place to read biographies of every member. So it would be best to shut up and
quit assuming you know a damned thing about any one person here.
I'll always say life can be harder, so it's best to get over it as best you can.
But to assume the person you are talking to is simply overreacting to a pain you
don't see as serious, is idiotic. If your doing this just to be emo, then take
it to Hot Topic.
Marriage is already a joke. The government wants to step in and impose it's
morality of "marriage should be between a man and a woman" as if that
is somehow sacred. If that's the case, why not a limit on how many times you can
be married? Politicians and celebrities have sometimes been married countless
times. Is it because it's between a man and a woman that it is somehow
okay?
Seriously, it's a joke. It's so easy to get married and divorced that it really
isn't as sacred as people claim it is. So why not let gays get married? All it
really is is a label. A label that gays would probably take much more seriously
than many straight couples. If people actually took seriously this word
"marriage" then maybe they would appreciate how hard gays are fighting
just for that right.
And seriously, what kind of asshole do you have to be to say "this group
can be happy, but this group can't"? Gays aren't asking to live in your
home, they are asking to be legally recognized for being in love. Far as I can
see it, gays would probably be better at being married than straight people.
People want to throw around this thought that it is morally wrong and that goes
against God. If you're that type, than your a closeminded, hateful person.
Exactly... you were TAUGHT those things. You didn't discover these truths. You
didn't have an epiphany that showed you these truths. You had it nailed into
your brain and now are too thick-skulled to discuss it.
And I'll worry about the way the afterlife judges me when the time comes. You
have bigger things to worry about in the current life you live. At your age you
shouldn't sound like you do, so I fear you are going to grow up full of hate for
those around you who do not believe as you do. To say you don't care about
people being punished shows you are self-absorbed in your own shallow belief
system. I only hope that as you get older, you'll have your eyes opened by a
simple word called 'logic'.
(Examples: DBZ, InuYasha)
If you suddenly get the urge to try to go SSJ4... well, feel free to it... but
I'm sure you can't fly... and you're likely to burst a blood vessel.
Or, if you feel like you're the reincarnated guardian of a sacred jewel... you
start shooting mutant animals (demons) with a bow, don't blame me for being
incarcerated for animal cruelty.
There was actually a guy in my school years ago who thought he was Goku. So much
so, people actually started to call him that. He would walk around with his
chest puffed out and his arms out like he was trying really hard to be buff. He
wore DBZ shirts everyday (cause I guess as Goku he needed to self-promote). And
I kid you not, while waiting at the bus stop one day, someone asked him to
summon a spirit bomb. He stood there with his hands in the air for like 10
minutes.
Except that white skin burns under the sun while black skin is less effected.
Not only that, but sweating is a good thing in hot environments. Sweat cools
your body as it evaporates, so by your logic that would also give the advantage
to black skin.
Priincess, do you know the purpose of theories? Are you familiar with the simple
concept of the scientific method? You start with a hypothesis. That is
essentially an idea that you think makes sense. Once that idea has some kind of
relevance, it becomes theory. Theories are then studied in great detail and are
either proven, thereby becoming a law, or more often than not disproven.
Yes, evolution is a theory. The Big Bang is a theory. But instead of "I
have a good idea, this is the absolute truth", science aims to
prove/disprove those said theories. Religion on the other hand says "heres
this book, what it says goes. There's no proof necessary you just must accept
what is in here and that is all." There are millions of possibilites as to
the origins of man. We could be a science experiment for some other
civilization. We could be the result of a fart from a magical being millions of
years ago. We may be decended from rocks. Who knows? You don't, I don't, nobody
does.
But these are questions that can't simply be answered with a book written
millenia ago. These are questions that must be investigated.
Seriously, put your thoughts into MS Word or something before you post them. I
actually had to read that 3 or 4 times before I finally (somewhat) understood
what the hell it was you were trying to say.
Seriously, it's just a simple matter of preference. When it comes to normal
anime, I tend to see girlxgirl relationships as beautiful. Almost as if there is
a sense of purity that you don't seem to get in hetero relationships. But seeing
two guys... just seems gross. Probably because I'm a dude.
So I'd imagine there could be a similar thought with yaoi lovers. Hell it could
be as simple as they just want their two favorite male characters together.
Keeps them from having to look in two different places. And when it comes to
hentai, maybe they are just tired of seeing women as the objects in every single
one of them.
I encourage all of the ladies to take many pictures of themselves with (and
without) their outfits on. After that, place them all in a zip file and contact
me via PM. I will give you an email address to send them to, and the world will
rejoice.
The answer to your question is simple: One must question the storied logic of an
all-knowing, all-powerful god that creates faulty humans and blames them for
their mistakes.
Look at it from this perspective. A mother and father is essentially "the
creator" for their children. They raise them and love them. So what if that
child reached age 20 and they didn't like how he/she turned out... so they
decided to kill him? That is essentially the God you speak of. He creates humans
which have faults and then if he doesn't like the way they turned out, casts
them into hell. Hmmm.
Not only that, but as I've previously mentioned, if I accomplish something in
life it isn't because of me, but of God. HE gave me the strength. HE gave me the
wisdom. HE made it happen. If I don't praise and worship him for the things HE
did, I'm doomed for hell. Hmmm.
I can give to charity, serve my country and be a wonderful husband and father,
but because I didn't believe in him, I'm doomed for hell. I can live the life of
a saint but with the purpose of helping humans because I am a human, but not
worship him, I'm doomed to hell. Hmmm.
Quote by WatermelonIslandIts a
government no human or alien can overthrow. I think that God does exist. I was
taught that way and I believe it. Please do not change my opinion because I will
just call you stupid.
That quote proves the danger of religion. I checked your userpage, it says you
are 11 years old. You have been taught to believe one thing and there is nothing
anybody can say to change your mind. So I could have easily drilled racism into
your brain and taught you that black people only rape, murder and steal, and you
would have already been so fargone in your belief that nobody could convince you
otherwise.
Life is about discovery and determining the truth for yourself. The fact is,
nothing outside of your closed bubble of "truth" will ever be able to
convince you otherwise.
Besides, no one can CHANGE your opinion, but we sure as hell can CHALLENGE your
opinion. If you have a problem with that concept, you may want to stay away from
this part of MT.
It's so easy to hate Flay... she was the anti-Lacus. Lacus was a character you
can look up to as intelligent, wise and caring. Flay was the opposite of that.
Since people were infatuated with Lacus, the natural response was to hate
Flay.
But I agree with you, Flay was the most human of them. I actually really liked
Flay's character and I thought she did a great job pushing the story forward in
a way no other character could. While I thought she was petty, which makes her a
hateable character, she also reacted in a way that many of us likely would have
if put in that position.
Oh and Flay was the hottest character. I'm not saying... I'm just saying.
Ha! Don't take it as "normal". I'm far from normal. What you need to
be is yourself, nothing more. Just know that you are a lot stronger than you
give yourself credit for. Times will get tough throughout your life and
sometimes it just takes a little inner strength and perseverance to pull
through.
And seriously, don't be too down about this guy. You know I completely changed
my group of friends right around your age. The people I was hanging out with
started to change, and so did I. I found a group of close friends that to this
day are close. 10 years we've known one another and we are as close as ever. You
will find that type of friend, it just might not have been that guy.
Quote by ttweni don't know what you mean by
easily considered fiction
(as many historians consider bible as a history book is the most unbiased one
ever written)
Religious historians may consider the bible a history book, but historians that
require fact usually question much of what is said in the Bible. Remember, just
because you want something to be true, doesn't make it so.
Quote by priincess do you mean Darwin's
theory? He had said before he died, that his theory is completely wrong
This theory you have just deemed as wrong, is still being researched. This
possibility, along with many others, are still being researched as to the
origins of man. Fossil records, historical writings etc still require study and
discussion. Yet, you think that just because you say so that his theory is
incorrect? That dear girl is called arrogance, something your God seems to have
taught you all too well.
Unless you can find something to take your mind off of being upset, the best
thing I can recommend is simply ride it out. There's nothing wrong with being
down int he dumps sometimes, even if it's over something stupid. You learn from
these things, trust me.
These times help you learn more about yourself. You learn more about how to deal
with adversity and what you need to do to keep something like this from
happening again. Sure, it's no fun moping around, but sometimes it's good to
simply let yourself be and slowly get over it. I remember I was a wreck when my
first love dumped me. I cried, I wouldn't eat and I felt like crap all day. But
once the storm was over, I learned how to deal with that kind of pain a bit
better and also realized I didn't need to be with someone who didn't want to be
with me as badly as I wanted to be with them.
Maybe that's a terrible example, but the point remains.
My grandpa says humans taste like lobster. He's not a canibal, this is one of his World War II stories.
